EKIBEN: Comiendo en el tren


Si viajáis por Japón en tren de medio o largo recorrido no tenéis que perder la oportunidad de probar algún ekiben.

Un ekiben  es un tipo de bentō que se vende en trenes y estaciones ferroviarias de Japón. Hace mucho tiempo que hablamos en mundo Japón sobre lobentō, cajas con una ración de comida preparada para llevar. Ekiben es la abreviación de eki no bento, donde eki significa estación.



Se pueden comprar muchos tipos de ekiben, tanto en las tiendas de la estación, como en el andén o dentro del tren. Los japoneses los suelen comprar siempre que suben a un tren para hacer un trayecto de medio o largo recorrido. 





Cada región o ciudad de Japón tiene su ekiben típico de la zona. A los japoneses les apasiona la comida y cuando viajan en tren por el país no dudan en ir probando los ekiben de cada región, incluso viajan solo para poder disfrutar de un ekiben en concreto.




Se venden en cajas con diferentes zonas separadas, donde colocan la comida como un arte para que se vean bien los ingredientes, que suelen ser especialidades de la zona como por ejemplo carne, pescado, verduras,  encurtidos y siempre con una base de arroz. Los ekiben tienen un precio entre 500 y 1.400 yenes





Las cajas de ekiben pueden fabricarse de plástico, madera, bambú o cerámica, además suelen venir envueltas con papel decorado pareciendo mas un regalo que comida para llevar. También vienen con palillos desechables.
